Mayor Booker and Brick City Development Corporation Cut Ribbon on Solar Energy, LLC

Mayor Cory A. Booker was joined today by Deputy Mayor and Brick City Development Chairman Stefan Pryor, Brick City Development Corporation CEO Lyneir Richardson, Solar Energy, LLC President David Buckner and Solar Energy, LLC COO Christopher Moustakis to commemorate the expansion of a New York based full service integrator of commercial solar power systems into Newark, NJ. Located at 17 Academy Street, the new office houses the company’s project management and business development teams.

Solar Energy, LLC, founded in 1998 specializes in delivering turnkey, cost effective and reliable solar energy solutions to a diverse range of clients in government, private businesses, and the non-profit sector. To date the company has installed 1 megawatt of solar electric energy in New Jersey, following on the trend of the state being one of the largest and fastest growing solar markets in the North East.

Commenting on the opening of Solar Energy, LLC Mayor Booker said, “I am excited that SES chose Newark. Through attracting new green businesses, through helping our existing businesses go green by conserving energy, and by training residents for green jobs, together we are making Newark a greener, greater city.”

Through efforts of the municipal Sustainability Office and the business attraction strategy by Brick City Development Corporation, Newark has seen a steady flow of solar companies interested and entering the market. Solar Energy, LLC President David Buckner commented, “Solar Energy, LLC has been active in the New Jersey solar market for over five years. The opening of our Newark office brings us closer to one of the strongest solar programs in the U.S. Logistically, we chose Newark for its geographic location and because it possesses the existing infrastructure necessary to operate a successful business. In support of Mayor Booker’s commitment to growing the city’s clean tech sector, Solar Energy, LLC is proud to be calling Newark home.”

Solar Energy, LLC received site location services and assistance with permits through the Business Attraction and Real Estate teams at BCDC. For more information about Brick City Development Corporation and its programs, visit www.bcdcnewark.org or call us at 973-273-1040.
